As an agency, we were presented with Boulder Pickleball to overcome the challenge of not having enough paid members for the indoor pickleball facility. We mocked a whole advertising campaign through research, insights, creative briefs, creating media for advertisements, budgets, and media planning. We pitched our campaign to Scott Fieglman, owner of Boulder Pickleball, where he chose our campaign as the best in the class. As the Boardwalk agency, a group that was created in my Strategic Communications capstone, we created a campaign to reinforce the community of one of Boulder’s favorite local restaurants: The Sink. We were confronted by Mark Heinritz to find a way to keep the Sink as a local spot while new hotels in Boulder bring in new tourists. In the same process as the Boulder Pickle Ball, we created a full advertising campaign to pitch to Heinritz. We researched the industry and the Boulder residents, chose specific media channels, conducted interviews and surveys, created videos and visuals for the campaign, and more!

In a class titled “Account Management,” where we learned in depth about how the role of an account manager plays in the agency and in relation to the client, we created a campaign based on a brand of our choosing. As a group, we chose 818 tequila and created a campaign on how we may disrupt the tequila space. This slide deck takes you through our thought process on how we did so. As our final presentation, we were asked to present this to guests who took the role of the 818 client. By talking through our campaign as if we were talking to a client, I built a lot of direct communication skills and had a clear understanding of how these relations exist in the real world.

For my Business minor capstone class, a group and I had to become entrepreneurs. We created a refillable candle service and pitched our business idea to our peers and real-life investors. As a group, we looked at the candle market, operations policies, pricing, funding, risk, and our competitors. We took an in-depth approach to whether our business could be successful and pivoted when major problems arose. I learned a lot about everything that goes into creating a business and strengthened my team-building skills.

In my second year as an advertising student, I was presented with creating an in-depth creative brief for the brand Scrub Daddy. This helped me get a full understanding of each aspect of a creative brief. I learned how important it is to create a brief that is concise and has the ability to spark creativity. Although this was centered on a brief, I was able to get a deep understanding of every step that makes up a creative brief. As part one of my courses in the Creative Technology Design minor, we had to create our own product. Within the ideation process, I found a problem in the alcohol industry and created a design with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop before creating a 3D model in Adobe Dimension. Afters your go-to late-night electrolyte drink for the after hours. It keeps you hydrated so you can keep on dancing through the hours, or not wake up mad at yourself for staying up all night.
